Little frog in my kitchen window.

There is a little frog that lives on the outside of my kitchen window.  He's been living there for about 2 weeks.  Every morning I go check to make sure he didn't die of "cold" (it's TX- it's not REALLY cold....) because I really don't want to scrape froggy corpse off my window before breakfast.  But he's just sitting there, suctioned to some section of my kitchen window.  He likes it there cuz we leave a lite on in the kitchen all night, so the bugs visit, and he gets free meals w/ no work.  He's a smart little froggie.

A few days ago, Joe and Bub were outside in the back yard burning leaves.  I tapped on the window (from inside) and pointed out the froggy to Bub.  He came over, wasn't sure what the froggy was, so he touched it, realized it was a frog, got scared and ran away.  Joe was watching this, thought it was funny, got the frog off the window and tried to get Bub to hold it.  Bub wasn't having any of that.  He is deeply afraid of all reptiles, amphibians, and birds.  I have no idea why. He loves mammals, we have yet to meet a marsupial.., but anyhow, he's afraid of the froggy, and runs away.  Joe puts the froggy back on the window (very relieved froggy, I'm sure...).  And then what does he do?  he pretends he has a frog in his cupped hands and chases Bub around the yard.

Joe got stung by a scorpion last night!

Here it is ....Dead....

Grandma & me put it in the freezer in case it made Joe sick & would have to be identified for anti-venom-serum....

He is fine...no problems...I gave him 2 Benedryl & he slept like a baby all night.

The scary part is that it stung him in bub's room....& bub & I had been playing in there barefoot not more than 5 min. earlier. I say "Thank you" to God! I'd prolly be allergic/sensitive to it (bee/wasp/ant sensitivies) & Bub is prolly so small it would have meant a trip to ER for either of us. Joe took it in stride & acted like he was mad about all of us fussing over him (grandpa got out cousin K's emergency adrenylin shot out just incase Joe needed it)...but deep down where no one sees...he was happy we all fussed.

I didn't think Bub comprehended what was going on last night with all this hull-a-bah-boo, but I guess he did get some of it, cuz he was afraid to go in his room for a while today, until momma put slippers on both of us & showed him all was safe, even under the bed. Then he was happy as a clam-bake.

FYI- we identified it as a striped bark scorpion. The one that got Joe was only about an inch long if even that!
Here is a site with lots of good info! (if you don't want to hurl just looking at the creepy-crawlies!) EWWWWW!

Long walkabouts

Yipes! It has taken me a LONG time to get these pictures posted in the right order....huff, puff.

I'm posting these pictures to mainly my Dad can see that east texas is not bramble-bushes and ranch country w/ giant flying cockroaches everywhere (only the fire ants, as I mentioned earlier)

These are some pictures I took on Thursday with the Bub on our morning walkabouts. As you can see, as we neared home, Mr. Man got impatient with the ride.

The 2nd picture is where I usually take him out of the stroller & then we "hold hands tight" and walk together (after the little man finds an acorn).
he still likes rocks, but acorns are much more interesting right now. He "knows" they get confiscated if they end up in the mouth, so instead he rubs his cheeks with the acorn...If ONLY he could explain that one to me....and the rock/fuzzy obsession. At least he doesn't eat bugs or boogers tho....

Love all!

fire ants...BAD!!! (SNL frankenstein w/ Sting)

In the Great White State (FYI- "white" b/c of SNOW), the Most feared insect is the mosquito, maybe the tick *SPOON* (sorry...knee-jerk reaction..kinda like "this is my boom-stick")
Anywhoo...Here in TX we fear the Fire Ant. These are NASTY little buggers & they are everywhere!

Due to rain & other unforseeable issues that have come up, the lawn has not been mowed for over 2 weeks. Now the grass isn't that high, & you can't really tell it's been that long. The only bad thing about this is that the fire ants have moved in.

Bub & I have not gone on yard walkabouts since this last weekend when I noticed several of these mounds all over the yard. The only reason I am this...concerned...about this is that cousin K is allergic to some sort of backyard bug (we're not sure what). and by allergic, I mean we have a spare adrenaline shot here just in case it's needed. I'm not "allergic" to any bugs, but I do have serious enough reactions to bee/wasp stings that require me to get a high dose of benedryl in Urgent care units, and as we ALL know, I am paranoid about my Bub being allergic/sensitive to the same things I am. (& this is a LONG LONG List)

SO with that drivel said, we have done walkabouts the neighborhood instead. But I want my Bub to be able to play in the yard too, and as rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week & the men folk prolly won't get to the yard until this weekend, I snuck out the the house during Bub's nap & did a fire ant hunt with the fire ant killer!!!! MUHWAHAHAHAHAH! (mad scientist laugh) They will be ALL DEAD by Morning!

So now I am happy!

Then I mopped the floor in the kitchen...M, I say M, I say M-O, I say M-O-P, I say M-O-P-P, M-O-P-P MOP!
